Let’s look at the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) board.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is the world’s most popular internationally recognised curriculum and is part of the Cambridge Secondary 2 stage. Cambridge IGCSE is a two year course for candidates aged 14 to 16 years. Cambridge IGCSE is a two-year programme starting at the Class 9 level. A student from any other board can join the IGCSE programme at the Class 9 level.
Cambridge IGCSE is undertaken in over 100 countries worldwide and are widely recognised by Universities, higher education institutions and employers around the world. Around 1.5 million students from different countries enter Cambridge examinations every year. Over 200 schools in India are Cambridge International Centres. It is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) aand being considered at par with CBSE, ICSE, etc.
IGSCE has integrated the best curriculum in international education. The IGSCE curriculum is developed considering the changing needs, and is regularly updated and extended. The IGCSE is very useful to teachers as it offers a wide range of teacher materials, teacher training and student support materials. Cambridge qualifications develop successful students. There are over 70 subjects are available which includs more than 30 language subjects, however the IGCSE affiliated School can offer any combination of subjects, so not all the IGCSE schools offer same subjects. The syllabus is set by Cambridge, but how it is taught will depend on the school. The course differs for each subject, but there will be a mix of assessment methods throughout, including coursework, practical exercises, oral and listening tests, projects and written examinations. There are five Subject Groups in IGCSE with several subjects to choose from, in each group:

Group 3: Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc)
Group 4: Mathematics (Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, etc)
Group 5: Creative, Technical & Vocational (Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Studies, Music, etc)
Cambridge IGCSE courses usually take two years to complete and exams are taken at the end of that period. IGCSE assessment is conducted by two UK assessment bodies: Edexcel (also known as London Examinations) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). A student who has passed IGCSE is eligible for any +2 level qualification, like Class 12 CBSE/ICSE or any international Pre-University programme, like the IB Diploma, Advanced Placement Diploma (US), and A/AS Level & AICE (UK).
